Tu Bishvat (the 15th of Shevat) is the "New Year for Trees." Originally an agricultural deadline, it is now celebrated as a holiday honoring nature and our connection to the land of Israel. Traditions include planting trees and eating the "Seven Species" of fruits (like figs, dates, and pomegranates) to celebrate growth and environmental stewardship.

Zikaron BaSalon is a grass roots event that observes the commemoration of the memory of the Holocaust through private family gatherings in the home rather than in great venues. The name itself, "Memory in the Living Room," is significant in that it enables audiences to hear the stories of the survivors as well as express themselves in the arts.
Yom HaZikaron is Israel's Memorial Day for fallen soldiers and victims of terror, observed the day before Independence Day. It is marked by a nationwide siren and moment of silence, memorial ceremonies, and visits to military cemeteries.
Shavuot is a major Jewish holiday celebrated seven weeks after Passover. It commemorates the giving of the Torah to the Jewish people at Mount Sinai and also marks the ancient wheat harvest. Rosh Hashana is the Jewish New Year, marking the beginning of the High Holy Days and the "Ten Days of Repentance." It is celebrated as the anniversary of the creation of the world (specifically Adam and Eve). The holiday is a time for introspection, prayer, and hearing the blast of the Shofar (ram's horn), which calls people to wake up and repent. It is customary to eat apples dipped in honey to symbolize the wish for a sweet new year.
On October 7, 2023, Hamas-led militants launched a massive, coordinated surprise attack on Israel from the Gaza Strip. The offensive involved the firing of thousands of rockets and a ground invasion where militants breached the border fence, infiltrating Israeli military bases and civilian communities. The attack resulted in the deaths of approximately 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and the abduction of around 250 hostages into Gaza. In response, Israel declared war, launching "Operation Swords of Iron".
